Django Unchained: Title Sequence

This title sequence, created in under one month, for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, aims to reimagine a new beginning for the film using a combination of 2D and 3D animation, imbued with a vibrant color scheme that aims to extrapolate on the on the iconic red and reflect a use of color common to the intros of spaghetti western films that were inspiration for the film as well as more contemporary inspirations of my own such as Cowboy Bebop, Archer, and the works of Saul Bass.

Working with a short time frame, I had to be smart about how I utilized my time in order to achieve the vision I set out to realize; I was able to to use free 3D assets as base models for many of the 3D scenes, which I then animated,  tweaked, and tuned with custom shaders to achieve the two dimensional, cell shaded coloring.
