Visual Archetypes
The goal of this series was to break down common visual stereotypes and common conduits for depicting various ideas such as angels and robots. By dissecting these forms, I take inspiration from familar symbolic landmarks such as the robes of angels depicted in Western art or the mechanical cortex of a droid. The approach to this series was inspired by the works of Japanese graphic designers Kazumasa Nagai and Ikko Tanaka and their approach to illustration through the lense of finely articulated geometry and minimalism.
